Wouldn’t you love a FREE KITCHEN?

There’s no free lunch—but remodel right and you could end up with a “free” kitchen. 

How?  Just ask our friend Thor Gilbertson

Thor is Vice-President at Bergstrom Automotive Group.  But before he took that job, he was CEO at Zimbrick of Madison. (Worked his way up from lot boy, which gives you some idea of his moxie and smarts, but that is another story.)  Anyway, Thor remodeled his kitchen with us.  It was a gorgeous project.  Custom cabinets, granite countertops all part of a Dream Room design.  He took advantage of every aspect of our design and construction capabilities, and the result was a stunning kitchen that wowed everyone who came in the door.  Thor made a substantial investment, but figured the pleasure he’d get from the remodel was worth every dime.  Until…

Thor landed a great new job, had to move out of town – and had to put his house up for sale in what can be euphemistically called a “lethargic” market.  He asked his realtor how much houses like his were going for (or at least what they were listed for, since few were selling).  He started with that number and – in a pretty gutsy move (but then Thor is a gutsy guy or he’d still be washing windshields and polishing fenders) – tacked on the full price of his recent kitchen remodel.  The realtor gulped, shook his head, and listed the house on a Friday afternoon.  And the wait began…

It lasted precisely 18 hours.  Because that’s all the time it took for Thor to have an accepted offer in his hands.  In a down market.  At – get this – his asking price.  Including the entire investment he put into his kitchen remodel.  So what does Thor have to say about his remarkable experience?

“The kitchen was the key.  Buyers would walk inside, look around and say, ‘we have to have the place.  This is our dream kitchen!’  Not only did I sell my house literally overnight, I recouped every cent I put into my kitchen remodel.  I guess you could say I got that kitchen free.”
