 Dream Rooms by Dream Kitchens is the result of a series of family-owned businesses that began in 1938. I first learned about cabinet making from my father William Schmidt, who made custom cabinets by hand one at a time for each customer, then delivered and installed them. His cabinetry is still providing enjoyment for many homeowners today. Together we took the process one step further, creating a cabinet and countertop manufacturing company called Schmidt Haus. Schmidt Haus produced high quality casework and countertops for a variety of retail and service companies across the United States. The company mantra at that time was, “Excellence is our standard”, and one of the keys to the company’s success was our experienced and talented workforce that created the foundation for pride and passion concerning quality craftsmanship. This cornerstone of commitment to quality is still is a driving force in the company today. Constant innovation is a business value I embraced early in my career and is one of the success factors that has kept this company at the forefront of the industry for more than two decades. In 1986, I started my own company, streamlined our large-scale manufacturing process, and created a custom woodshop and a custom stone shop to form the backbone of Dream Kitchens, which specializes in designing architectural interiors and emphasizes kitchen design and building services for both new construction and home remodeling. Providing the highest value for each and every customer means that every project is a priority and the lessons we learn from each job translate to how we can improve to increase our customers’ satisfaction.
